About Brendon
From an early age, owner Brendon Wood developed a deep love for the outdoors and wildlife. Growing up on a farm in South Africa, his childhood dream was to become a veterinarian or game warden. In his early twenties, he had the opportunity to begin an apprenticeship in taxidermy, where his passion for wildlife and the outdoors naturally evolved into a career.
Brendon quickly excelled in wildlife artistry, and with that came the vision of one day opening his own studio. Several years later, that vision brought him to Texas, where he met his wife and business partner, Katherine.
In 2010, Brendon’s dream became a reality when he opened Safari Life Taxidermy in San Antonio, Texas. In 2022, the business relocated to a private studio just outside of Boerne, Texas, where it continues to serve clients from across the country.
With over 25 years of experience specializing in African game, Brendon brings a deep understanding of African wildlife, anatomy, and natural environments that informs every piece created in the studio.

Safari Life Taxidermy is a full-service taxidermy studio dedicated to exceptional craftsmanship and personalized service. Operating as a private studio, we focus on a smaller number of clients, allowing us to provide a more personal, detail-oriented experience while maintaining efficient and reliable turnaround times.
Our approach to wildlife artistry is rooted in creating mounts that feel natural, timeless, and true to the animal. Each piece is carefully crafted to preserve not only the trophy itself, but the memory of the hunt and the experience behind it.
Over time, the studio has grown to support clients beyond traditional taxidermy. Today, Safari Life offers a range of additional services including trophy transportation, trophy storage, restoration and maintenance, and trophy room design and installation.
These services allow us to assist clients at every stage — from returning home from safari to the final display of their collection.
